From the heart of SRBH... (Shri Ram Boys' Hostel)

Dear ‘Class of 2007’ boys

You have fought many battles, no less than that of Troy’s

Three years back in the summers of 2004

You graced me with your presence when the rains would pour

You brought in diverse cultures, coming from places all

Tamil Nadu, UP, Punjab and West Bengal

You united, you stood, you were tough and very strong

And all sorrows became laughter, always coupled with a song

You mellowed in my womb, you played and had fun

You teamed up in the fields at the rise of the morning sun

No matter if there was an exam, no matter if you were sick

Friday nights for you always meant a unanimous Amba flick

Then one fine night, I witnessed thunder and lightning

All you children fought in the quest to be the King

It took a year to build a bond, but now it only took a stroke

You all divided, things went haywire, relationships broke

I think about the changes today, while you depart

The way you drank and smoked and intoxicated my heart

The way you complained of how my men cook

The way you opened a newspaper supplement instead of a book

I thought of each one’s victories, I looked back and smiled

And today I proudly say to my sister, there goes my child

I’ve moulded you well for the cruel world, I’ll forget you never

You’ve left your imprints inside me forever
