Summer of ’11: Those were the best days of our lives

One hot morning on the first day of June
We bid our elder generations goodbye hoping for some excitement soon
Inside the state of Punjab housed a not-so-known 'Kikar Lodge'
And there like the arms of an octopus reunited our very own 'fauj'

We ventured with four-wheeled bikes into the Ropar forest
Coming out all clad with mud, those twenty minutes being the best
We climbed down a ton feet cliff with just a harness and a rope
And boy it gave us a high, which was no less than dope
We turned into armored terrorists, a foursome a side
And strategized behind the trees, fighting for our pride
The moon rose, the forest beckoned, we rode a jeep to somewhere near
And all we got to see were a couple of fearful deer

Two days zoomed by, it was now time for Himachal
We drove to Shimla, continuing our 'pyaar ke pal'
By the day we were commandos, crossing valleys and taking a free fall
By the night we were pedestrians, hip-hopping the shops and photographing around the mall
A penthouse we had, games like Uno, Taboo and Minimum we played
A starry sky, a khamba, a shisha - with all this the night was made

We rediscovered the love, the laughter and the togetherness which was long due
And five days of fun did not mark the end, but the beginning of something new
Years later, no matter if we’re bachelors or husbands or wives
We'd still say that those were the best days of our lives…
